Chili (or chili beans) is one of my favorite comfort foods. It makes me think of football games and spending time with family and friends through the cold months. I just made what I believe is my last batch because spring is coming! And then I realized I have never shared my slow cooker recipe for chili with you.
So, here you go everyone. I hope you enjoy this deliciously easy recipe for some chili beans!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground turkey (or beef)
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can HOT chili beans
- 1 can light red kidney beans
- 1 can dark red kidney beans
- ½ green bell pepper, diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- ¾ cup salsa
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp Mrs. Dash
- ½ cup water
First, you want to crumble the ground turkey into the bottom of the crock pot.
Next, top with garlic, paprika, & chili powder.
Then add the onion and green pepper.
For the next layer, add salsa, tomatoes, & water.
Finally top off with your three cans of beans.
Cook on LOW for six hours.
Then stir & turn to warm.
If there are any remaining large chunks of the ground turkey, break them up.
You can leave this on warm until you are ready to serve; whether it is a few minutes or a couple of hours. The longer you leave it, the more flavorful it is!
I enjoy my chili topped with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, & Fritos! How do you like yours?
