I am here to talk about your everyday warrior wear a.k.a. makeup! For some people, no makeup is their go-to & for others, it’s full-face-on or you’re not leaving the house. Wherever you fall on the scale, embrace it!
Seriously, some days I NEED to feel super girly & glamorous & put on a full face of makeup including contouring, highlighting, lip-lining, you name it, I want to do it. But most days, I keep it super basic.
I am here to show you some of my personal favorite makeup products & then show you my very minimal, but big impact everyday makeup routine!
So, welcome to part two of the Lazy Girl’s Guide: Makeup. (Find part one here)
Foundation:
There are so many out there! There are BB creams & CC creams, full coverage with concealer, matte-fying, wrinkle fighting & so much more that it can be hard to figure out which one you’ll love. Here are a few of my go to’s for foundation:
Clinique Beyond Perfect Foundation + Concealer – This is a full coverage foundation that doesn’t feel cakey. I also love the fact that it can be used as concealer too which means one less thing for me to buy for my dark under-eye circles! I went into Ulta one day because I wanted a nice foundation that matched my skin & this is what I chose.
e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation – This is my go-to cheap foundation. Basically anything by e.l.f., I probably own it or have used it. I feel like their products are great, especially when compared to the price! Also, it has SPF 15! You know I’m all about protecting my face as much as possible from the sun.
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream – Ok, this bad boy right here I am obsessed with. It’s a lightweight BB cream from Korea. It has a light coverage, SPF, brightens skin, & helps fight wrinkles! Oh and it’s only around $11! I mean, seriously, you cannot beat it.
Eyebrows:
e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil – This is my current favorite for defining my eyebrows. It’s a retractable pencil on one end & a spoolie brush on the other. Simple & cheap!
Anastasia Brow Wiz – A more pricey brow pencil, but anastasia products seem to be the industry standard for making your eyebrows amazing!
Other tidbits for eyebrows: Remember to keep them shaped up by tweezing, waxing, or whatever your preferred method is. It makes filling them in & defining them with a pencil that much quicker & easier!
Mascara:
Covergirl LashBlast – This has been my favorite ever since it came out. My lashes are like, nonexistent, and this brush really knows how to make them longer & fuller!
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes – This is a bit more in price, but I love the formula of this mascara. It holds onto even the tiniest of my lashes! Which, in turn, helps me look like I have more than I do in reality. 🙂
Other tidbits for mascara: I use to only wear waterproof mascara because I have allergies & my eyes were always watering. But I found after years of that, my eyelashes were actually more brittle. Since then, I use normal mascara & only pull out waterproof for special occasions.
Lipstick:
stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – I only have one lipstick to recommend to you because this one is hands-down my most favorite lipstick EVER. I’ve never been a lover of lipstick, but I tried this and now I am passionate about it! It’s matte (which I am obsessed with), it stays in place, & it stays (pretty much) all day. I love the color ‘Patina’; it’s a dusty rose color and I find it is just PERFECT to wear everyday & with any outfit.
Now onto my ‘basic’ makeup routine.
It only takes a few minutes because I only apply makeup to the three areas that frame my face & they make me look more awake & put together than just foundation or no makeup at all.
Step One:
Fill in & define your eyebrows. Eyebrows are expressive, set the stage for your eyes, & help to frame your face!
Step Two:
Put on a good coat or two of mascara. Lengthen, darken, & add volume to your lashes! Doing this helps to define your eyes & make them *pop*.
Step Three:
Put on lipstick. It adds some color & definition and is the last part of framing my face. Make sure your lips are exfoliated & moisturized, then pick out your favorite color!
And there you go! I hope this helps you decide what to focus on when you’ve got those in-a-rush days or when you want to keep your makeup minimal but with a bigger impact.
Let me know in the comments what your go-to makeup routine is or what products you use everyday because you love them so much!
