Lasagna: Easy to Make & Bake!

There is just something about a dish with carbs & cheese that make it such a comfort food. Lasagna is filling, delicious, & so comforting to eat. We love it, but we do not make it that often in our household because it can be quite a process to prepare. That is why we usually opt for spaghetti (or pizza) when we’re in need of a carbohydrate, marinara, & cheesy fix.
Man, just writing about this is making me hungry.
I decided to make lasagna at home, but I wanted there to be as few steps (and dishes) as possible. So, this lasagna recipe does not make you boil the noodles first! I will tell you, this recipe is amazing. And it’s even more delicious as leftovers!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 Tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 egg
- 2 cans (or jars) pasta sauce
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 cup parmesan
- 16 oz ricotta
Yes, that looks like a lot of ingredients. And it’s more than I usually use for a meal, but it is so worth it for this meal.
First brown your ground beef in a medium size pan. Then drain if needed. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Next, add the beef back to the pan & add in the onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes on medium heat.
While your beef is browning in the first step, mix together the Italian seasoning, egg, ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, & ONE CUP of the mozzarella cheese in a bowl.
Back to the beef mixture, add 1 can or jar of pasta sauce to the pan. Turn off & let sit while you layer!
Now for the fun part: layering your lasagna!
In a 9 x 13 pan, put enough of the sauce mixture to cover the bottom then add your first layer of 3 lasagna noodles.
Then evenly layer 1/2 of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Spread 1/2 of the remaining sauce mix over the cheese.
Repeat lasagna, cheese, sauce layers.
Now to top it off, put 3 more lasagna noodles & pour the second can of sauce over the whole thing. Let it settle for a minute & add the remaining one cup of mozzarella cheese on top.
*You see I forgot to leave half of the mozzarella out of the cheese mixture & ended up topping this one off with some parmesan. Oops!*
Cover the pan with aluminum foil & bake for 45 minutes. Uncover & bake for a final 15 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes & serve!

September 15, 2017 at 8:08 amYes lasagna is such a comfort food for my family and I as well. My son is usually picky when it comes to lasagna so for me to get him to pig out on it is to make Lasagna Roll Ups! He loves these so much and its pretty easy to do too. I have to have lasagna about twice a month, probably would have it more if my husband would let me.. LOL! ♥
