The Best Deviled Eggs Recipe

When it comes to being a ‘good Southern girl’, I am a shame when it comes to my preference in food. I can’t fry things, so thank goodness for an air fryer. And I add gochujang or sriracha to almost everything I eat. Ha! However, the ONE southern staple that I can attest to loving is Deviled Eggs.

I mean, you give me some mediocre deviled eggs & I will still eat them. But I was on a mission to finally write down my recipe for the BEST damn deviled eggs ever. This recipe almost did not have photos because I was eating as I made them (sorry, not sorry!).

Take these to your next picnic, Sunday dinner, or just make your day a little bit better by making them for yourself!

Ingredients:

  • 8 hard boiled eggs
  • 1 Tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp mayonnaise (preferably Duke’s)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 Tbsp dill relish
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

A little personal note on Duke’s mayonnaise: I now buy it in bulk online since moving from the Southern states. Nothing compares to it & I highly recommend trying it if you never have!

First, hard boil your eggs. Find my instructions here.

Once the eggs are cool, peel off the shells.

Next, cut each egg in half lengthwise. Gently scoop the yolk into a medium bowl & place the white part in your carrier, tray, or plate.

When you are finished with each egg, mix together the yolks, mustard, mayo, relish, & pepper.

Take a tablespoon filled with the yolk mixture and fill the white part of the egg with it. For those that have NEVER made deviled eggs, this means fill in the hole/divot where the yolk was. You will want the mixture to be about 1/2 inch above the surface.

Repeat for all the eggs.

Finally, top each deviled egg with the paprika. Some people also enjoy a jalapeno slice atop the egg.

  • Boil your eggs
  • Once the eggs are cool, peel off the shells.
  • Next, cut each egg in half lengthwise. Gently scoop the yolk into a medium bowl & place the white part in your carrier, tray, or plate.
  • When you are finished with each egg, mix together the yolks, mustard, mayo, relish, & pepper.
  • Take a tablespoon filled with the yolk mixture and fill the egg white with it.
  • Repeat for all the eggs.
  • Finally, top each deviled egg with the paprika.

Notes

Some people also enjoy a jalapeno slice atop the egg.
